Windmill "De Adriaan", on the bank of the river Spaarne in Haarlem, The Netherlands. The windmill has long been an important landmark of the city Haarlem, but was completely destroyed by fire in 1932. Though there have always been plans to rebuild the mill, that did not happen until the turn of the century, and the new mill opened in 2002. Yes, the windmill on the photos is less than ten years old, but it is a copy, as exact as was still possible after all those years, of the original mill, that stood on this spot from 1779 until 1932.

The first two photos show the mill on the bank of the Spaarne, the last one shows a view of the Spaarne as seen from the mill.
